Common questions

How do I compress several videos at once?

Tap Add videos from Photos (or the folder button for Files) and select as many videos as you like. Each one is compressed to the same target size, one after another. You can change the target in Settings, from 20 MB to 500 MB.

Why is my video a little smaller than the target?

The app aims slightly under your target so the file reliably fits. If a video still comes out over, it is automatically compressed again a little smaller.

Where does the date and time stamp come from?

From the recording data stored in the video itself. Videos filmed on an iPhone keep the local time where they were filmed. Some videos, such as screen recordings or files saved from messaging apps, don't contain a recording date; those are compressed without a stamp, and the app tells you so.

How do I copy the start and end times?

Each video in the list shows its recording start and end time with a copy button beside each. A finished video's detail screen also has Copy both.

Where are finished videos and screenshots saved?

In your Photos library, dated when they were filmed, as long as Save to Photos automatically is on. You can also share or save any finished video to Files from its detail screen. If Delete originals after compressing is on (it is by default), the originals of videos picked from Photos are moved to Recently Deleted once their compressed copy is saved. iOS asks you to confirm first, and they stay recoverable for 30 days.

It says it can't save to Photos.

Open the iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos, choose the app, and allow it to add photos.

Can I use it for NYC idling complaints?

You can use it to prepare videos for the NYC Citizens Air Complaint Program. Please check the program's current requirements with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection before filing.
